Event: 8 Days Celebrity Car Boot Sale

If you're into vintage classics, you might want to pop by Orchard Central this weekend, where these and more revamped cars of the past century are on display in line with the annual 8 Days Celebrity Car Boot Sale. This excited writer also noticed a Subaru Forester as a grand prize to a lucky draw, alongside several Volkswagen Buses, one of which is painted with a pleasing shade of baby pink and decorated with a lovely bouquet, much to the ladies' delight.

Outside of the mall, here is this writer's favorite one on display - a '67 Porsche 912 Coupe. Other makes one may find among the displays include Chevrolet, (Mr Bean's) Mini, and other Volkswagen models. In an area frequented by modern supercars, these classics make a pleasantly different sight. Alternatively you could check out what they're selling, of course.

Post Race Review - Spanish GP

Pastor Maldonado came out tops today in his Williams FW34 after fending off a hard charging Fernando Alonso in his Ferrari for most of the 66 lap race. This made it the first win for Williams since Brazil 2004 and five winners in five races this season.

Alonso beat Maldonado off the line to lead the first 27 laps of the race. Maldonado running in 2nd never let up the pressure on Alonso with Lotus' Kimi Raikkonen running behind in 3rd.

Maldonado managed to get past the Ferrari after the second round of pitstops to lead the race. The third round of pitstops saw Alonso close the gap back onto the Williams and kept up the pressure for most of the remainder of the race till the Ferrari's tyres started to give in. Maldonado held on to win by 3.1s.

Kimi Raikkonen made a late charge at Alonso in the closing stages of the race to come in 3rd, a further 3.8s back, after cutting down an 18s gap between them. Raikkonen's teammate, Romain Grosjean, drove a respectable race to finish behind in 4th. Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi fought hard to come in 5th ahead of Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, who fought up the order after receiving a drive-through penalty for ignoring the yellow flags. Mercedes' Nico Rosberg held on to 7th just 0.2s ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton who started from the back after being excluded from qualifying.

McLaren's Jenson Button was struggling for grip throughout the race and came in 9th, ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who fought hard to take the final point.

Red Bull's Mark Webber and Ferrari's Felipe Massa had dismal races finishing in 11th and 15th respectively. Among the retirements were Michael Schumacher of Mercedes, who ran into the back of Williams' Bruno Senna at turn one. Schumacher was evidently annoyed and put the blame on Senna but was subsequently handed a 5 grid place penalty by the stewards for the next round in Monaco.

Alonso moves to joint 1st place with Vettel on 61 points ahead of Hamilton on 53 points and Raikkonen on 49 points.

Official Launch Of The New NUS Motoring Website!

On behalf of the NUS Motoring Club executive committee, I am proud to launch the brand new NUS Motoring Club website. This website will be the one-stop source of information on everything that is happening in NUS Motoring and much more.

The last few years have been a trying time for NUS Motoring. Since its inception, much hard work has been put in by the many pioneers and seniors in order to achieve its great accomplishments which has given the club an outstanding reputation. However, due to many factors, both avoidable and unavoidable, the club hit bad times. To fall from such great heights only makes it hurt much more. The NUS Motoring Club however is known for its ability to overcome the odds and make great things happen and in the spirit of the club I am proud to say that we are back to do great things once again and it starts from here.

With our completely new website and Facebook page, we are better able to engage our members and non-members alike. Regular weekly articles of almost anything related to motoring and motorsports to keep you on the edge of your seat will appear on our website. News feed updates from our Facebook page will keep our audience up to date with the latest postings and events that appear on our website. All this brought to you exclusively by our NUS Motoring editorial team. Our lines for feedback and suggestions are open. Polls on what you would want to see from us will also be conducted regularly.

With the hope of making this club one that our members will stay with and feel a sense of belonging to for life, we would like to invite back all past alumni as senior members. All current members will also eventually become senior members (instead of being branded as "Alumni") and remain within this great circle of friendship to share our knowledge and experience and bring the club forward. We at NUS Motoring feel that you never graduate from a family and that once a member, always a member.

As we enter into this new chapter of our club's history, I would like to thank everyone who has helped us, mentored us and contributed to the realisation of this amazing club. Thank you so much and please stay tuned for the latest happenings.
